Let us start by giving a definition for what is a network and the different types that are available. A network or computer network can go by a few names depending on where you set it up. If it is in a small office then it is called a small office network and if at home it’s a home network. Basically network or computer network is simply two or more computers communicating with each other.

Let me emphasize on some of the different types of network:

This communication maybe facilitated through cables, telephone lines, radio waves or by satellites. This all means that your network can be either wired or wireless or a mixture of both.

Decision time!

Going great so far, we need to now decide on what type of network suits your needs, whether it is a wired or wireless home network and how I will guide you through the process of setting up the network.

Consider using a wired home network if you primarily leave you computers and other devices in one location and you will not be moving them from room to room.

If you still don’t understand you might ask yourself the question Lets say you only have a desktop or a laptop without wireless capability although nowadays

But you may consider using a wireless home network if you want to be able to more around more freely with computer at home also which is great.
